Eastern Airways to launch Humberside to Jersey flights
Regional airline Eastern Airways (T3/EZE) has announced it is launching flights from its home base of Humberside (HUY/EGNJ) to Jersey in the Channel Islands.
The new service will commence on 21st May 2022 and run weekly on a Saturday throughout the Summer season until September.
Operated by Eastern Airways in partnership with Channel Islands holiday specialist CI Travel Group and Premier Holidays the route has come from demand for travel to the Channel Islands brought about by the Coronavirus pandemic and the rise in the “staycation”.
Robert Mackenzie, Managing Director, CI Travel Group said: “C. I. Travel Group is delighted to be partnering once again with Eastern Airways to operate a direct flight from Humberside to the holiday island of Jersey this summer. Bookings in the first two weeks of January suggest that demand is going to be stronger than for many years, as confidence returns to travel again. We are really looking forward to welcoming clients, old and new, to Jersey in 2022.”
The route will be operated by one of Eastern Airways’ 72-seat ATR turboprop aircraft.
Adam Wheatley, Managing Director, Eastern Airways, said: “Given the UK staycation growth remains the focus for many into 2022; we are extending the length of operating season to this popular Channel Island destination of Jersey from Humberside Airport in conjunction with our primary partners of C.I. Travel Group and Premier Holidays. As passenger confidence increases again, we want to ensure the right services are being offered given Eastern Airways is all about supporting the regions of the UK, connecting people and places, so growing Jersey capacity will offer a welcome UK break destination from Humberside. Given recent new network additions such Newquay from London-Gatwick adding to Leeds-Bradford, restoring and adding further services at hubs we already serve are another crucial part of increasing connectivity and aiding economic recovery where sustainable.”
